According to their sample policy on their website, a pre-existing condition is "...Any Condition for which a Veterinarian provided medical advice, the Pet received treatment for, or the Pet displayed signs or symptoms
consistent with the stated Condition prior to Policy Effective Date or during any Waiting Period."

Prescription Drug Coverage |

Coverage for Prescription Drugs that are prescribed by a vet and administered at home requires an additional add-on.
Medications that are administered by a veterinarian in a clinic for an eligible condition ARE covered by the base policy.
Prescription medications that are NOT included in their formulary of covered medications are NOT covered.
NOTE - According to their sample policy, adding this supplement at a later date will require that you cancel your current policy and have a new one reissued. This will result in any conditions you have under the old policy to not be covered in this reissued policy as they will be deemed pre-existing. This also applies to the Exam and Alternative Therapy add-ons as well.

Periodontal (Gum) Disease Coverage:
According to their website, in order for Periodontal Disease to be covered:
"1....Beginning at three years of age, your Pet’s teeth must have been cleaned and examined under general anesthesia by a Veterinarian in
the thirteen months before the date of service for the Periodontal Disease claim.""
"2. Any Periodontal Disease found during the examination described in subsection
(1) must be treated before Periodontal Disease coverage becomes available for
your Pet.""
"3. Pets younger than three years of age have no cleaning or examination
requirements, and will enjoy full coverage of Periodontal Disease so long as
there were no signs or symptoms that pre-existed the Policy Effective Date or the expiration of any."
If you meet these requirements then Endodontic treatment for canine and carnassial teeth and extractions will be covered for Periodontal disease.
Dental Fractures due to Trauma:
Endodontic treatment for canine and carnassial teeth and extractions for all teeth are covered for as long as they are not caused by repetitive inappropriate chewing behavior that presented symptoms or signs before your policy effective date or during the waiting period.
Deciduous Teeth, Dentigerous Cysts, Enamel Hypoplasia and Unerupted Teeth:
Extractions are covered if your pet enrolled prior to becoming 6 months old and there are no signs or symptoms of these conditions prior to your policy effective date or during the waiting period.
Other:
Treatment for supernumerary teeth, absent teeth, and malocclusion are not covered.
It is not clear if orthodontics and conditions like cavities are covered.

Bilateral Conditions Policy |
If a bilateral condition happens on one side before the policy starts or during the waiting period, that condition will not be covered if it happens on the other side. Even if it happens after the waiting period.
The way it is written in their sample policy it appears this applies to all bilateral conditions (e.g. eye problems, ear problems, knee problems, hip problems, etc)
